State Budget Cuts Result in Changes at the Frank Phillips Home
Like other state agencies, the Oklahoma Historical Society has been hit hard from the decline in state revenue and cuts in staffing, programming and hours of operation have been necessary, reports Jim Goss, Director of the Frank Phillips Home. As of August 1st, the Home’s staff will be reduced from two fulltime employees and four part-time employees to one fulltime and two part-time positions. The Home will have a new tour schedule and start charging admission for guided tours beginning July 1st, 2010. “We hope that visitors will find our new tour schedule will fit nicely into their travel plans” notes Goss, who goes on to say that “visitors will find the same high quality tour as they have experienced in the past”.
A change in tour schedule
will include a new option:
At 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and
Friday, a special “behind-the-scenes” Director’s tour will be
offered.
The basement of the Home, originally
used as a laundry and extra cooking area, will be included as well
as the Garden Cottage, where guests will be served refreshments at
the end of this special tour.
